AARP seeks state-sponsored savings program in Arkansas

AARP seeks state-sponsored savings program in Arkansas: The American Association of Retired Persons in Arkansas is pushing for legislation focused on retirement savings in the state.

Vanessa Nehus, associate director of advocacy for the AARP in Arkansas, said that the plan, called Work and Save in Arkansas, would give working people in the state the option to collect pretax savings directly from their paychecks in addition to their Social Security funds. She said she and others at the AARP believe such a plan will help more people be able to retire in the state than 401K plans or similar options.
